Dear friends,

The Coffee Art Project is a high-profile art competition linked to the theme of Coffee, and the top 30-40 artworks selected are shown and judged at the New York Coffee Festival October 13-15.
Really thrilled to inform you that my painting “First drink of the day” has been selected to be shown and judged at The New York Coffee Festival between 13-15 October 2017 at the Metropolitan Pavilion, 125 W 18th St, NYC. If you can, please do visit!!
The restriction was that the art must somehow relate to ‘coffee’ or the ‘coffee shop experience’. As per the theme of the contest as well as staying true to my style I created the “First drink of the day”. I have used acrylic paints and bubble wrap imprints on butter paper to get a new look.

TITLE: First drink of the day
MEDIA: Acrylic/Mixed Media on Stretched Canvas
DIMENSION: 28” (H) X 22” (W) X 0.7” (D)

DESCRIPTION:
In rural India, the day starts early and breakfast usually consists of a drink of tea/coffee with bread/roti. This painting depicts a traditionally attired rural woman having her first drink of the day. In rural India, they have a unique style of drinking coffee/tea. The drink is taken in a bowl and poured into a saucer to cool it and sipped with leisure. This is the time to relax and plan for the day ahead.
Be it at a coffee shop in New York or in the rural houses of India, coffee/tea is usually the most important morning ritual of people all over the world.
