Adam had begun a series of works exploring eyes and making paintings which used abstractness in colour following a more fauvist approach in his style of production. During this period Adam created a wide range of EYE paintings, exploring light and shadow and how he was perceiving reality, through his eyes.
In this image the light and colour seen in the eye resembled a tree in Autumn.
