Artist's description:

This print is after Thomas Hardy's poem 'The Weary Walker' describing a journey that goes on and on. The poem resonates with me because in the space of fifteen years I had three jobs, each involving travelling between fifty or a hundred miles one way, just to get there or back. I never felt like moving house though because the jobs were in the unstable printing trade and sure enough each one ended in redundancy. These days I don't have to go anywhere to do some horrible job and can take pleasure in a drive out, looking at everything along the way.

This print is pulled from a relief plate cut from rubber, a variation of letterpress, akin to linoprinting. The completed edition made 6 copies. The image has a two and a half inch (63mm) margin all round with an extra half inch at the bottom. I can trim the print to your order if required. All materials are of high quality and should present no keeping difficulty.

Materials used:

oil-based printing inks, cartridge paper

ever the road (2017)
