Probably most would run scared seeing one of these scuttle past your feet but If you dare to stop and look closely they are really beautiful insects - and they can come in the most luminous greens and blues that I've seen.
This print of the Escaravellos beetle is part of my ever growing insect series.
Made with chine colle' which is delicate tissue paper that is hand painted in acrylics and then collaged on to the paper before printing the linocut on the top.
When using chine colle every print is different as it is nearly impossible to reproduce a print that looks exactly the same as the last and to be honest I'm always experimenting with new colours that I can't resist changing things every time I print from my lino blocks, which is why this Escaravellos Beetle is an original, as are the majority of my prints.
