Artist's description:

Whist on holiday in Mexico we took a trip into the hills to visit some nearby villages. We happened upon a community of ladies and their children that had been given refuge away from violent husbands…to support their families they wove garments and decorative pieces of cloth to sell. The quality was amazing and we watched as they sat on the floor passing a baton of wood back and forth through the loom. The top that the girl is wearing was made by her and features a design of arum lillies commonly grown in the area and exported. I love the way she wears her hair and is half hidden by the shadow of the doorway. In the bottom left hand corner you can see the lilies that inspired their work. Painted in Acrylic paint on canvas board.
