I become absorbed by certain subjects and attempt many versions of the same type of scene, currently city skylines. Here I have painted the dramatic spires and towers of Edinburgh with a moody sky on a cool autumn evening. Plenty of wet in wet washes and some occasional details to draw in the eye. I wanted a change from pure watercolour so went back to the ink and bamboo pen I used years ago when travelling. Sepia ink, hand-carved bamboo pen and watercolour washes on a larger format than previous works at half sheet panoramic size, 30" x 11".
