Dancing with an imaginary man is a theme and title that I return to again and again; this is the fourth in the series - the others are in private collections in Spain and the UK.
A woman wearing a transparent red swirling dress is dancing not just with herself but with an imaginary man who is emanating gold from where he touches her hands and body.
Watercolour, white watercolour pencil and gold gouache on beautiful teal textured Khadi paper with some tiny pieces of white inlaid (see on the right in one of the photos).
I wanted to show off the lovely colour of the paper so that forms the basic colour of the image with a palette of white, gold and brown/black highlights. (I use Winsor & Newton professional watercolours and Caran d'Ache pencil). When the temperature allows, I prefer to work in the open air - there are three photos of work in progress including me painting in my garden.
