Artwork description:

A linocut print of a dog and a person wearing blue shoes and tweed trousers, selected for the Royal Academy Summer Exhibition 2023.

A humorous artwork about going out into the cool air, entitled 'Cut Loose'.

‘Every week at work we had a bonus ball lottery and I won. With the winnings I bought a rescue dog from St. Francis Animal Welfare, Fair Oak called Bruce. When I retired from teaching I made this linocut print to celebrate moving on and as gifts for my colleagues. The artwork's colour and texture symbolise my mixed emotions about being on the threshold of leaving and Bruce is pointing the way out, it's simultaneously a happy and sad feeling.’

Paper Size: 29.7 x 21.0cm
Image size 21.0 x 15.0cm

Please note: This artwork is the last remaining linocut print of the edition of 100 (#97/100) that sold out at the Royal Academy Summer Exhibition 2023. The print is in three colours; mustard, baby blue and indigo using the traditional printing on smooth recycled 140gsm acid free paper.

These unique prints are numbered, titled and signed in pencil, protected with glassine tissue paper and sealed in a cellophane pocket with foam coreboard support. Carefully and lovingly packed in a stiff cardboard box, insured and tracked.

Each print is hand printed using the traditional method of burnishing with a baren and has subtle variations in colour, tone and marks. The print is not supplied in a frame.

Materials used:

Calico Safewash relief printing inks, Recycled acid free paper, hessian backed linoleum.
