Original artwork description:
This is an egg tempera painting (Artfinder does not provide a category for this medium). All my egg temperas are painted on accurately prepared and sealed panels with a ground of 7-12 layers of highly absorbent marble dust gesso instead of chalk. The finished paintings are protected first with a polishing, a coating of Renaissance Wax (developed by the British Museum) and polished to produce the beautiful soft egg tempera finish. All gold leaf is shellacked to protect against pollution and humidity.
I was particularly drawn to the complexity of colors and shapes from the crazy quilt juxtaposed to the simplicity of the pears.
