THE STORY

There is a story of a monk who was only able to get rid of a group of monkeys chasing him, when he stopped running away from them, and instead turned around and confronted them in the face. This inspired me to create this artwork, where confronting a tiger's ferocious face, one of the most feared beasts of them all, symbolises facing my worst fears.

THE PROCESS

This is a wood engraving created on a cross section of turmeric wood. The engraving is done directly on the wood, which is then inked and printed on paper by hand.

Materials used:

Letterpress ink
