This small oil painting was painted 'plein air' in the northern part of the New Forest in late September. The scene is painted from the bottom of the valley looking into the light and up a hill with a small stream in the foreground. The heather is still in bloom and a sandy track crosses the valley and the stream as a diagonal across the picture.
The painting has a plain off white frame which suits the painting well.
