Artist's description:

Chrysalis is part of the 'metamorphosis' series which is concerned with the nude female body and its many facets and changeful nature. The body is seen as something that is transformational, something that grows, changes and metamorphosises. I've taken the body and by using collage, have changed the nature and purpose of that body- it has become something alien, from a dream, not human.

This piece is special because it's one of the collage series which I mounted on satin so it has a very soft feel to it. I have used white pencil and acrylic brush pens to create the background of twigs and leaves. I have also used spray paint and a stencil to create a circular pattern in the background which in itself represents a cycle, a wholeness and a oneness.

This series is inspired by the erotic writings of Kafka, Marquez de Sade and Georges Bataille.

Materials used:

satin, paper, acrylic
