Original artwork description:

The first phase of the work is carried out with an absolutely free, expressionist gesture above all. The demarcation of the chromatic fields and the composition were done with acrylic, pastel and Conté crayon in black and blood colors. In a second moment, the composition was being rethought and refined; later some elements were added and finally the shadow work was done.
Conceptually, the work is a pictorial reflection on the health tragedy in Brazil, which is being forced to face a corona virus pandemic in addition to the incompetence of a delusional genocidal government, unfortunately democratically elected, which undermines my beliefs in the dignity of human nature, hence the title of the work. Sad times. Right now, in my country, the maxim "Ars longa, vita brevis" is absolutely true. It remains for us to resist.

Materials used:

acrylic, Conté, pastel and pen on canvas
