Burgers. Love them or hate them, they're the ultimate symbol of fast food culture and it feels like they're having something of a renaissance at the moment. So for a solo exhibition in March 2016 I decided to created a large canvas version of my A4 paper burger painting, sold previously through ArtFinder.
I'm really pleased with this one - I feel it could be the pinnacle of my pop art food series! The colours looks really vivid and satisfying in real life, as several of my customers have stated in my 5 star reviews.
In keeping with my usual style the elements of the food are shown suspended against a sky blue background and painted in bright colours with black outlines around them, creating a bright graphic 'pop' style image. There's bacon, lettuce, ketchup, processed cheese, gherkin, and a tomato slice on this burger. I know you wouldn't necessarily order the ingredients in this order but after testing, the colours looked best this way!
It is painted in acrylics and Posca paint pens on a stretched cotton canvas and signed on the back for authentication. As the paint goes around the edge it is ready to hang.
18 inches x 24 inches
46 cm x 60.5 cm
Roughly 1 inch or 2 cm thick.
I've been inspired to create work like this by classic pop artists like Andy Warhol, Roy Lichtenstein and Patrick Caulfield.
Postage will be first class in a cardboard envelope.
