Artist's description:

Oil on Canvas 50cm x 60cm. A nightview around 1983 of the north bank of the River Clyde from Broomielaw to beyond the Kingston Bridge. Today there is nothing left of the old Broomielaw Quay which was a thriving hub of transport and commerce up to the late 1960s, now in the 2010s finally given way to the new shinier, predominantly steel, glass and granite clad financial and commercial quarter of the city. The old Daily Record building in the centre of the painting has now been demolished as has the removal of the old Washington Flour Mill reflecting in more ways than one the lingering death of the print industries and Glasgow's former reliance on the river and industry. Against accepted wisdom I used a lot of black to contrast with the incredibly vibrant blues, reds and golds of the artificial lighting..
