The Avon Gorge was formed during the last ice age. The Avon Gorge is a 1.5-mile (2.5-kilometre) long gorge on the River Avon in Bristol, England. The Clifton Suspension Bridge is the symbol of the city of Bristol. The bridge is built to a design by William Henry Barlow and John Hawkshaw, based on an earlier design by Isambard Kingdom Brunel. It first opened to the public on 8th December 1864.
