When I finish a large work I take a breath before I start planning the next undertaking. I like to do a little piece in between which I call a "breath" piece. These are my delicate little zen pieces and I paint them differently than the larger pieces. Each "breath" piece is painted in pure stream-of-consciousness, free-flowing and without a plan or design. I put the time needed into each one and paint them slowly. They help me return to what is pure and natural about art and help to relax me after a long project. I love my little inbetweeners.
While they may vary in color and design, they all share a few qualities. They are generally small, affordable, and painted on half inch layered wood. I use mostly acrylic on these, but I like to add coffee, tea, wood stain, oil paint and liquid dye for fun and variety. They each have beauty in their detail and layering, and they come ready to hang, signed on the back and coated for protection. These are perfect for small spaces like bathrooms, yoga areas, hallways, kitchens and such. Works from my Breath Collection make great gifts any time of year.
