Original artwork description:

A charcoal drawing of a group of horses thundering towards the line. The element that brings the image to life is the treatment of the horses' legs and the churning of the ground beneath as there is little option to create perspective in a frontal view. The re positioning of legs leaves traces behind, these aren't removed from the drawing as they prove useful in speeding up the picture and giving the horses life. Whips and harnesses also help to move the eye around and create movement in the upper portion of the image as do the jockeys as they drive their horses onward.

Charcoal
