The scene is dominated by the Duomo in the background, opening the perspective to the foreground where the equestrian monument dedicated to Cosimo I de' Medici, created by Giambologna, and the allegorical sculpture of the Day (Il Giorno) by Michelangelo Buonarroti stand.
