This painting was from a time in Long Island. It is of the serene scene at the beach at high noon. The sky is intense blue. The sand is hot and shimmering; the grass moves but very slightly, there is very little breeze.
Around the time I made this I'd been doing woven pictures made of two paintings woven together to add vitality and life to the paintings.
I did this painting all on one piece of paper. I added the suggestions of weaving to enhance the feeling of movement.
