Original artwork description:

Fading species: Haliaeetus leucocephalus.

The bald eagle range includes most of Canada and Alaska, all of the contiguous United States, and northern Mexico. It is found near large bodies of open water with an abundant food supply and old-growth trees for nesting. The bald eagle is the national bird of the United States of America and it was for long highly revered, which is why the painting depicts native American symbols in its background.
In the 20th century it was on the brink of extinction in the contiguous United States, but populations have recovered steadily since the 70’s. Climate change, with increasing spring heat waves and fires, pose a threat to this majestic bird.
What can you do to help this bird? If you hunt, use non-lead ammunition, do not leave garbage or poisons such as antifreeze in the wild, advocate for eagle habitats protection and for eagle friendly power lines.

Materials used:

oil on wood panel
