Original artwork description:

I have illustrated this Paul Gaugin quote about the nature of art partly by plagiarising my own favourite revolutionary artists namely: Piet Mondrian, Edvard Munch, Roy Lichtenstein, Wassily Kandinsky, Bridget Riley, Hokusai, Andy Warhol, Gerhard Richter, David Hockney, Tom Wesselmann. This conceit is a tribute to the artists who have influencedmy work over the years. Gaugin's quote is true but major Revolutions are rare. All artists want to be seen as the next revolutionary but Bela Bartok probably sums it up best ' In art there are only fast or slow developments. Essentially it is a matter of evolution, not revolution.'
