I make my Linocuts in my studio in York and the subjects reflect my love of gardens and nature. This image was inspired by a massive flock of blackbirds that ate most of my redcurrants on my allotment. I was in the bushes trying to pick them and they were with me but eating them . It was like a competition - who could get the most? They did!
I made this print in 2017 and it was a limited run of only 10. I recently discovered this first one in a portfolio. I was experimenting with colour and technique before embarking on the main print run so it is an artist's proof or A/P for short. I made this one A/P and filed this away. I then made a very limited edition which proved very popular.
The reason that I made so few was it was very time consuming to make. The main image is a linocut print and the green background is hand painted. Each berry was printed with red ink using a tiny round bit of Lino which I had cut out with a hole punch and stuck onto a piece of dowel. Fun to do but slow.
So I have one left but it genuinely is the last one. It is one of my designs that has been made into a greetings card by Green Pebble.
It is printed onto thick acid free paper using archival inks. The image size is 20 cm high by 30 wide. The paper size is 27cm by 37.
I use Royal Mail to send artwork abroad and it is first class and tracked postage. Small items are sent first class with no tracking within the UK. If I find I have overcharged for postage and packaging, I refund the difference.
All prints are sent flat in a reinforced envelope.
