Artwork description:

This is a linocut print created in response to a collaborative performance dance piece in which I composed a soundtrack for. The lines cut in the print show elements of the marks left by the dancers after moving and dancing on sea salt on the ground.

The performance was created and performed in July 2018 in Leeds, UK and involved dancers Maria Popova and Stephanie Donohoe. The original vision was created by myself and focussed on themes of renewal, harmony and balance.

Both the sound and some short film extracts from the piece can be seen via my soundcloud website under the name A Book of Songs or on my website of the same name.

This series of small linocut prints were made this year in September and formed part of a group exhibition at Colours May Vary in Leeds.

They are framed with a white window mount in an painted oak square frame with a chalky white finish to represent the white of the salt originally used. They work alone but are enhanced in a set as they work hung together very well.

Materials used:

Paper
