Abbey of the Black Hag, as it is known, in Irish, Mainistir na gCailleach Dubh, is located in County Limerick, Ireland. The legend goes that the abbess began practising black magic and satanic worship and the Vatican closed the abbey down. It might be more likely that the Vatican wanted to close the abbey and made up the story because the nuns wouldn't leave. At any rate, here is the illustration of the abbess's ghost that still haunts the ruined structure today.
Executed in a mixture of inks and traditional acrylics, this work is on paper and is presently unframed.
