About Terri Smith

  • Biography
I am a fine artist and illustrator based in County Galway since the 1990s, with over a decade of professional experience illustrating children's books. Working primarily in ink, my practice explores nature, fragile systems, and the traces left by time, pressure, and change. Influenced by my studies in Forensic Science and Analysis, I incorporate close observation and elements of the natural sciences into detailed works that reward slow looking, where meaning emerges gradually through layered structure, tension, and atmosphere. My work often combines organic forms, symbolic elements, and controlled composition to explore persistence, transformation, and the relationship between the natural and constructed world.
