This is a portrait of a man on the subway in NYC. I photographed him because he was handsome and dignified. I loved his black beret. I fantasized he was a jazz musician. He knew I was photographing him, but didn't seem to mind. I began with underpinnings of red that show through the final colors of the painting. He is the primary focus of the painting, while the elements of the subway are not emphasized.
