Artist's description:

A lightbox with changing coloured lights playing over a a painted colour spectrum.

This piece is certainly a Coda to my most significant work, my 'Light Organ' of 1968 - 1970. Certainly, this small work is slight in concept, and for this reason it is called a Light Codetta. Seeing how colours can change within a fixed area, and in relation to other fixed areas has always fascinated me. In a way, looking at it is like looking at the world and at the colours within movements found in everyday life, but (it can be) much, much slower - a remarkably soothing experience.

There is a computer generated soundtrack allied to this work which can be heard on the website, www.amart1st.net/a-light-codetta.

Hopefully, if you listen, you will see further into this work.

Materials used:

Mixed Media : LED lights in wood and acrylic panel box over Ipé wood, canvas, acrylic paint + C18th glass marble.
