Original artwork description:

'75' is a pencil drawing of a maintenance platform operating along the Royal Canal in Kilcock, my home town in county Kildare. I was inspired by the construction of it and the shapes created by the mostly straight lines. I decided to include some contrasting colours to pick out the basic shapes of the image and to anchor the image. The reflection in the water adds some mystery to the drawing. The drawing is based on a number of photographs taken on site and sketches made in situ.

The drawing wishes to question reality in a lighthearted way, through the use of contrasting colour of the speed sign and the colour of the platform. The speed sign is for the train tracks hidden from view and suggests another layer of interest. The tree in the foreground was added from another image as was the platform creating a new or false reality letting the viewer decide for themselves.

The drawing is sold unframed at 18 x 36 cm.
Frame is available upon request. Please contact me for details.
