"Heat wave in Roath Park, 2015" by Maja Grecic

"One of my favourite spots in Cardiff, Roath Park Lake, has been a theme for several of my paintings and many drawings. This painting reveals a bit of nostalgia for my homeland, warm Summers and orchards, scent of south that I tried to invoke into a local landscape."

"Alice had Great Difficulty in Managing her Flamingo, 2015" by Shana James

"This Linocut from the Understanding Alice series depicts Alice and the Flamingo. In it the flamingo has a human like eye and they stare at each other face to face. Here I have used the flamingo as a symbol for all those hard to manage situations in life. Here Alice faces the difficulty head on, looking at it eye to eye. What is your flamingo?"

"Mammoth Moths, 2015" by Alison Headley

"This linocut reduction took months in the making and was all in all a labour of love! My obssession with insects and their stunning patterns and colour have ended with my biggest print yet with eight different layers of colour. In this piece I have used metallic inks in copper and gold, which give a beautiful and subtle shimmer to the overall image."

"Town By The Sea, 2015" by Deniz A.

"When I saw the picture of this town in snow by the harbor I knew I had to paint it. I tried to capture its ethereal atmosphere by keeping the colors of the houses light. For the contrast, I painted the harbor with sharp colors and pattern."

"Daring, 2015" by Lana Frey

"I love to paint people’s emotions, combine their expressions and unfold characters in my art. This painting is my vision of a modern young woman, who is living in a big city. Have you ever noticed how aura of megalopolis imprints itself on every personality? Red – is a passion. Orange – independence. Pink – tenderness. She’s woman who knows what she wants and reaches her aim no matter what."

"Stargazer, 2015" by Emma-Louise Ball

"This piece is part of the 'Seek Series'. It is inspired by summer nights in the Basque Country lying under the stars with my daughter gazing up into the glorious night sky and watching the stars twinkle. We like to name the stars and for us star gazing is about comfort and knowing that no matter where we are in the world we all see the same stars. We live about 14,000kms away from our family so star gazing is about connection to the planet, to the universe and to our loved ones."

"Market in Xabia, 2014" by Helen Shulkin

"Market in Xabia - an old Mediterranean town located in Spain. Orange walls, black shadows of umbrella and lines of shutters play a summer jazz. People crowd around the stalls looking for fresh foods. The midday will come soon and the sun's heat will cover a city. I made a monotype on paper using the English "REEVES" acrylic paints. The details are highlighted by sgraffito technique. The expressive manner is chosen to achieve the feeling of typical Spanish siesta."
