    Small pop art food canvases are BACK!

    Some of my most popular paintings from the past have been these small 15x15cm canvases depicting my usual array of foods in a bright, bold, 'pop art' style. So I've started to replace some of the ones I've sold in the past alongside adding a few new additions too. They look great hung together as a group, as shown in this picture, but watch this space as I'll be adding the new ones over the next few weeks.

    A year ago today...

    A year ago today...

    ...was when I was starting my first ever large scale mural commission based on a painting I'd previously sold through ArtFinder. You can still see my giant ice cream and fab lolly mural today, on Albion Road in Stoke Newington, London. At this stage it was a scene of a lot of masking tape and coffee!

    I bought my first set of Posca pens on my honeymoon visit to Japan in 2015, and I've used them ever since. I've got through about six of the black Posca pens since then! They have acrylic paint in them but because they're pens you can achieve really precise graphic lines on any surface. Piled up next to them are my Monster Munch canvas and recent Taco painting.

    It all starts with a sketch...

    Even though I love striving for a precise graphic look in my paintings and illustrations, all of my ideas start with very simple sketches. I have countless full sketchpads around the studio that have served as the basis for quick ideas, or contain plans for much larger projects. This is one I recently finished filling up.

    I've moved my studio to a different part of the house where it gets more light. This shot shows some of the items I can't do without to create my art - acrylic paint, Posca paint pens, brushes, and my ArtFinder packing tape that keeps anything I sell and post safe.

    In May 2016 I completed my first ever mural commission. It's on Albion Road in Stoke Newington, London, and the design was based on a painting I originally sold through ArtFinder in 2015, depicting an ice cream and a fab lolly. The phone symbol in the middle is the company logo for Ample Play records, owned by Tjinder from the band Cornershop, who commissioned this piece. You can see the finished mural in London now.
