Side panel painted Black Acrylic painting on gesso primed Acid free canvas “The only real prison is fear, and the only real freedom is freedom from fear.” - Aung San Suu Kyi As many of you may know I don’t paint birds very often, but when I do it’s normally a self-projection. From where I live in Bayswater, there is a big field of open woodland near my studio. The grassland is always my favourite playground, especially during the lockdown. I often accompanied by varies local birds such as cockatoos, magpies, colourful rosellas, lorikeets and kookaburras during the walk. Pink Cockatoos / Major Mitchell's Cockatoo are hard to miss, with their pink colouring and distinctive red and white crest. These friendly, playful, highly social birds represent inner influence, balance, joy, abundance. I often see pink cockatoos having launch under the winter sun peacefully or fly up to the branches in flock playfully. It’s one of my favourite scenes to enjoy. I captured the magical scene with my eyes, froze the moment with my paint brushes and canvas, worked on it for quite sometimes in my studio. This artwork is also painted during the lock down in Victoria 2021. A special isolation diary that I wrote with my paint brushes. Hope you enjoy this original artwork of mine. This artwork was inspired by my visit to Royal Botanic Garden in Cranbourne. I was drawn immediately to this particular Eucalyptus macrocarpa tree in full bloom in the flowering season. I love the details on those large ovate grey leaves and the earthy tone on the plant. The rough surface on the gum nuts and the smooth silky texture on the flowers, display of greatest strength of life. I present you the latest piece from my award-winning/signature series -Bloom like flowers. Eucalyptus Macrocarpa (Mottlecah), a sprawling mallee endemic to Western Australia. Eucalyptus flowers also have the symbolic meaning of Healing and Protection. The flower always blooms in its own time without competing with other flowers. To experience the changing of the seasons and to present moments, it has become a routine of mine to paint the first bloom in my surrounding during its flowering season. This artwork is inspired by the Passion Vine that I spotted in my neighborhood closed to my art studio. I was fascinated by those interesting fringed petals and splendorous tendrils; the white petals shine bright like precious gems under the sunshine. Fun Fact of these unusual blossoms - Passion Flower Essence is used to purify and strengthen one’s connection to unconditional love even nowadays. A Truly Special and Symbolic Gift- Passion Flower, was named by Roman Catholic priests In the 15th and 16th centuries for the Passion of Jesus Christ. There were old sayings that the flower's five petals and five petallike sepals represented the 10 faithful apostles. As for the circle of filaments in the center of the bloomsome, stands for the Crown of Thorns. This artwork is painted during the lockdown, a special isolation diary that I wrote with my paintbrushes. Flowers always bloom in their own time without competing with other flowers. Our own will to be alive, and the way we want to be alive. When the world turns upside down, cherish the people who love you, most important of all, remember to give yourself a life time love. By the time I have this artwork completed, I decided to name this artwork - A Life Time Love, which is also an extension from my previous artwork – A Life Time Journey, A Life time blessing, and Have Faith in A Sunny Place. Because the world might change all of a sudden, but love keeps us grounded. This is also a reminder to myself- always take care and love yourself first, that’s what makes you stronger.     A Life Time Story - Orchids and Roses on Wood Tray with A Weaving Basket (2021) By HSIN LIN Artist Acrylic gallery wrapped canvas. Ready to hang 76.2 (W) x 121.9 cm (H) x 3.5 cm (D) Affirmation: Show appreciation and love and the rest shall come to you. In this particular painting, the delicate, exotic orchid represents love, luxury, beauty, and strength. In ancient Greece, orchids were associated with virility. Pink roses are symbolic of gratitude and appreciation. Flowers represent us as humans, the wood tray and vases as the body carrying our soul and physical body, protecting us as a shield in the natural order. The weaving basket stands for connections, the connection between families, friends, all the people around us. Even if you are apart, everyone is still being linked together as a whole, stronger together.
