  • Quiet day at the Whitstable Brocante

Quiet day at the Whitstable Brocante

It was so windy nobody came! We saw very few visitors, what a shame as there were some lovely Christmas presents to be had! One lucky lady has my faithful old small box easel I do hope she will have as much fun with it as I have done!

    On the beach at Whitstable!

Back on the beach this week I spent a long and blustery day on Thursday! I have a quite respectable palette knife painting at low tide across the groynes, and another smaller one of the sky and sea

    Painting in Oxford

    Painting in Oxford

Delighted to have found a wonderful spot with views across the Oxford Spires - I painted two pictures from this location while visiting my sister-in-law last weekend; the first a very successful palette knife painting, the second (see photo) I used a brush to help define the lovely oak trees however this one is going to require some work in the studio!

    Painting at Whitstable

    Painting at Whitstable

I have had two lovely outings to my favourite beach for painting, this week, it's been lovely weather and I have one or two really lovely new paintings - soon to be ready for sale. I take my paints in the car, collect my easel from the beach hut, and set myself out on the shingle while the tide comes in and goes out. Sunday the island of Sheppey was shrouded in mist while the sun shone on the beach; today it was clear as a whistle!

Starting a new painting of Chenonceau

Starting a new painting of Chenonceau

Three hours by the chateau this afternoon saw the beginning of a large 24" x 24" oil on cotton duck - very exciting! Lovely day for it, especially as the afternoon wore on and the setting sun was catching the chimneys and reflecting off the water through the arches - wish I could capture everything! My next painting maybe!
