    Today in the Vineyards

    Today in the Vineyards

Despite weather forecasts of rain and winds we have had a glorious day today culminating in the most spectacular sunset; I set up in the vineyards at 3pm and have completed several useful paintings including my last one of the sky just before sundown - this photo shows my first picture on the easel - the vines have been pruned, the sun is starting to go down - look for the puddles in the track and maybe you can see Susie my dog?

Back in the Loire Valley - preparing for painting

Back in the Loire Valley - preparing for painting

I am busy with preparing new boards for my work while I am here! I have a cottage near Chenonceau and use one cottage with great picture windows as my studio - I paint on MDF which my kind husband cuts for me, I prepare it with white acrylic 2 coats and then gesso 2 or 3 coats. I have already been out painting last evening's sunset and have photos to sue in addition more tomorrow!

    Painting in Medway Valley today!

    Painting in Medway Valley today!

I had spent all morning with the children and watching the tree surgeon; at lunch time the skies had cleared, little wind and a mild afternoon forecast so gathered my painting kit and jumped in the car to Medway Valley favourite spot ion the hillside as little time before sundown at 3.30pm - nearly the shortest day. The sky over Maidstone was black and the horizon a misty dark grey / brown. the sky was developing as the sun started down, with some red in the horizon and umbers in the clouds. Sometimes the sun would catch the fields; the river was tide out, but soon some water caught the light. This painting mostly brushwork with some palette knife tried to capture the light on the river.
