    Another great day today as we manage to stretch our lovely summer to the 1st November - can't believe it! It was perfect today, the light was fantastic, the tide low and the reflections in the rock pools had to be captured!

    Painting alongside the river

    Painting alongside the river

    One of my favourite places to paint is the chateau at Chrnonceau in the lovely Loire Valley. This holiday I spent 4 days right by the chateau capturing the morning light and the reflections in the water. It is a lovely time of year and I enjoy the interaction with passers by. The challenge is to get the perspective and chateau design without being too detailed and without losing the painterly approach to my work.

    On the beach at Whitstable!

    We have hired a hut! This means I have somewhere to leave my painting kit and some wonderful skies and seascapes to paint! The view is forever changing if I was to go every day all my paintings would be different. The beach faces north and there are wonderful sunsets and possibly sunrises - only problem is I live 40 minutes away and were not allowed to sleep in the hut!

    Taking part in the Pintar Rapido competition

    Taking part in the Pintar Rapido competition

    I challenged myself this year by taking part in a competition run by Pintar Rapido, this took place on the 19th July; there were 400 artists, we all queued in Chelsea Old Town Hall at 9am to have our canvases stamped, then out we went into the heat and threatening skies of our July day. I got lost in the back streets, painting the lovely church in Old Church street and meeting lots of interesting onlookers and local residents. I painted until 5pm with a break for lunch, then took my painting in to frame and hand in. I returned on Sunday to watch the judging by my favourite artist from bath - Pete Brown. My final painting is for sale on this web site!
