Artwork description:
This is a print from my newly developed range of variable 'mono prints'. The images all feature women captured in a moment of strength and vulnerability. This range is designed to serve as a reminder of the innate strength and courage that each of us hold within us, despite the life challenges we may face.
Each design is created in batches of 3 - the initial design is drawn out as a mono print and the chine collé (collaged) element is added before the print goes thought the hand-pulled press. The next print is then created using the 'shadow' of the previous print left on the plate. That way, each design has begun from the same image but changes slightly with every print. So technically not a mono print, but created in the same way that they are made.
Materials used:
300gsm Somerset velvet printmaking paper, Japanese Chiyogami and decorative papers
