Original artwork description:

This atmospheric painting depicts the River Kent estuary at Arnside, Cumbria UK. The last glimmer of sunlight illuminates a low cloud as it crosses the twilight sky. The famous viaduct, and the distant Lakeland hills seem to merge into the ether.
As a Fine Art student in the 1980s at the art school in nearby Lancaster, Chris used to hop on a train and make the short journey to Arnside for an afternoon's landscape drawing, although this painting is inspired by a beautiful photograph by Cumbrian photographer Beverley Middleton, which Chris spent many days transcribing into this artwork.
