Original artwork description:

An abstract seascape dominated by deep green, blue, teal, aqua and white. Painted in encaustic embellished with oil stick and pearlized powdered pigment, the intricacies in the details are the result of my process of fusing the hot pigment-rich wax (strengthened by damar resin) a number of times with both a butane torch and a heat lamp, the heat lamp being the final touch after carving deeply into the many-layered surface. It's the oil in the oil sticks and the powdered pigment split apart and flowing into the melted wax, separated by thermal and air currents that creates what looks like an aerial scene or an image of the Earth from satellite, although, of course, this is not representational, but rather a re-creation using the same forces that formed our planet in the first place. This is my way of honoring the natural beauty of the Earth. Signed and dated on the back, this work ships with a digitally-registered Certificate of Authenticity.
