Clothes dried in the sunshine smell so good, and they feel so crisp, I am all into aironing myself :O))
a handprinted aquatint etching; I ink up the copperplate for each print pulled, this means that each print will have small differences to the next. I hope you treasure this as a sign of individuality and part of what makes an original print an original. I use first class papers and ink to give my work the best possible longevity.
Aquatint is a technique where deep tones can be achieved on an etching, it involves rosin, that gets melted onto the copperplate with the help of a burner.
I have printed Wash Day from 2 separate plates, one is inked up in a lovely warm sepia, the copper plate with the drawing, and the other one is inked up in a turquoise blue, by printing them on top of each other I add depth to both the image and the colors.
If you would like to see me make and print an etching, go to the me at work section in this shop , it takes you straight through to my library of printmaking movies on Youtube.
"Wash Day" is printed in an edition of only 50 prints, please be aware that I can't guarantee that you get the number on the photo......
Each print is numbered, titled and signed by me.
"Wash Day" is printed on a piece of warm cream heavy printmaking paper, perfect for the image, the image measures 16" x 3" (41.5 x 8 cm) and
the piece of paper measures 19" x 10" (49cm x 27 cm)
