I climbed a steep incline for 3/4 mile to reach Brough Law, an ancient hilltop fort in the Breamish Valley, Northumberland National Park, which dates back to 2500 BC. The fort is thought to have been a defensive and ceremonial place, which is made up of a circular ring of boulders and gives a spectacular 360 degree view of the valley below. I was fighting with the wind when I painted this work though was kept company by a few grazing sheep.
