Through realism and symbolism my aim is to reflect on the paths we chose, the relationships that define us and the transient nature of all emotions and states.
I’ve found embellishing oils and charcoal with precious metals adds a new dimension; changes in the ambient light intensity, colour and direction alter the picture and how it is viewed. I find myself looking at pictures more often and I prefer certain images at certain times of day.
As an artist there’s obviously a lifetimes depth of experience behind every mark and decision made through the process; I don’t elaborate on that process as I feel it’s important to let viewers find their own meaning, in the hope it resonates more deeply.
I created this piece late in 2023, it is untitled so far. As well as the original artwork a limited edition of 10 gilded prints, Giclee prints embellished with 24k gold leaf to mirror the original artwork, are available.
