Original artwork description:

In painting this I endeavour to express the distance across the Solent stretch of water, the movement of the waves, the translucency of the sea water and the varying colour of blues to green of the sea. The beach has texture and colour of the seaweed amongst the rocks and the sand blends softly into the wetness at the edge of the rippling waves. I have emphasised the contrast between the darks of the rocks above and below the water and the whites of the foaming edges as the waves strike the rocks and sand.
