Turquoise Wave Cresting original seascape painting on canvas for sale is inspired by the South Devon and Cornish coastline. It shows a turquoise wave cresting onto a sandy beach with sea foam rising up and under the wave. With a light cerulean blue sky and rolling waves in the background.

Inspiration

I am an oil painter inspired by the energy of the seas. Studying film and art at the University of Plymouth has influenced the way I paint. It is important to me to include a sense of movement in my work. Having moved permanently to Devon 18 years ago, it is Devon and Cornwall’s coastline that still inspires me.

My seascape series of paintings have evolved over the years. I am keen to explore the force of the ocean, the light coming through the waves and the ever changing colour of the sea

For my work I like to use oil paint. This medium is very versatile allowing you to add thick impasto layers or more fluid translucent ones. As a result this medium is very useful when you want to capture ocean waves in all their forms and variety of colours. Also it is such robust a medium I can scrape the paint back or scratch into it too for added texture.

I graduated with a BA (Hons) in Fine Art in 2008 at the University of Plymouth. I have exhibited my paintings throughout Devon and gained an award at the Exeter Short Film festival. My films and photographs have been exhibited on the South Bank, London and in Italy. I am a Geopark Ambassador Artist for the English Riviera UNESCO Global Geopark.
