My work explores the many polarities we exist between by contrasting the speed of gestural brushstrokes and the slowness of hand embroidery. The push and pull of colour, light and shadow, texture and flatness all work though these tensions and look for a balance or moment of resolution in a contradictory and unstable world.
These studies on paper inform my larger paintings on canvas, and are intended to be float framed.
