Thursday - Day Colour Series, 2022 - Orange.
Continuing my exploration of colour theory and how colours are involved in our daily lives this series explores tradition and emotion of days and places through colour.
Based on Thai, other Eastern cultures and astrology each day of the week has a color of the day asscoiated with it. The colour is based on the colour of the God who protects the day or Navagraha. For example, the God of Sunday is Surya which has the red color asscociated with it.. The colours of the day are also the traditional Thai birthday colours. For example, King Bhumibol Adulyadej was born on Monday, so on his birthday places in Thailand will be decorated with the colour yellow and often the colour is worn as clothing on that day.
The last image is of the seven days of the week from Sunday on the top left to Saturday on the bottom middle.
These works are made from colourfast paper mounted on board and in an acid free mount framed in a white stained wooden frame under UV acrylic glazing. D rings and mounting string is supplied.
