In a desert landscape people are drawn to the beautiful, but ultimately destructive, vision before them. The monumental form made up of sought after goods evokes images of the sacred monuments of ancient civilisations and the atomic bomb blasts of Hiroshima and Nagasaki. Like Dorothy's tornado, objects fly around the thing of beauty. A family sits and admires the vision, others point and move towards it. The light given off by the object burns shadows across the sand. Magritte looks on in awe. The piece is composed of an acrylic painted desert scene with images from magazines stuck into place and varnished to bond them to the surface. This is a box canvas with painted edges, and is ready to hang. The piece has a high gloss finish (see detail images).
