Original artwork description:

The skull of England's last King to die in battle, Richard III.

In most opinions, especially Shakespeare's it would seem that Richard was the archetypal villain, perhaps like all men who insist upon ruling the lives of others.

It felt only appropriate, giving England's current insistance on keeping a royal family, to show that however gilded, rich and powerful we are all the same underneath. Earthworms, maggots and beetles aren't picky saprophages.

Painted in oil with a focus on complementary colour combinations.

Materials used:

MDF panel, oil and acrylic
