This painting, for me, was of a prayer. Someone silently conversing with God. I painted it as part of an exhibition in Brighton called ‘Congregation’ in St Paul’s Church, 2010. Artists were invited to paint a life-sized portrait of a person sitting in the pews of the church. All canvases sat in the congregation during the Brighton Open Houses festival.
In isolation, it's the quiet moment that the soul has to reflect and look forward. Hopefully it's a restful painting, capturing a moment's peace.
