Artwork description:
A road runs by a humble home and heads down to the sea. It is a road that many Shetlanders have taken over the centuries. When I first lived there in 1977 a neighbour told me that her son was at sea but now he was the only seafarer of that parish. Up until those days most men went to sea, one way or another. The population of Shetland has never amounted to more than that of a small town yet there cannot be a port anywhere in the world that has not been visited by a Shetlander.
This is a relief print pulled from an engraving in rubber, in an edition of 7 only. All materials used are of high quality.

fine Japanese paper, oil-based printing ink
