Original artwork description:

Original oil painting by Alan Harris,

Tin was being worked in Cornwall and Devon up to 4000 years ago, and by mediaeval times, along with lead and wool, it was one to England’s main exports.
The last working tin mine, South Crofty in Camborne, closed in 1998 due to plummeting tin prices. But Cornwall's mining relics have gained fresh life as visitor attractions and monuments to the tight-knit communities that grew around them.
This work shows the image of an abandoned Cornish tin mine, tucked away in an idyllic location on a Cornish landscape..
This is another lovely piece of art to remember the history of our ancestors.
Alan's works and subjects often show his interest in history. Not the history of the great battles but the history of his people of these anonymous working men, their work and sacrifice that helped to develop our society, and through this work he engages the viewer with his atmospheric detail.
Size 20" x 16"
Framed size 26"x22"

Alan Harris works with a variety of mediums and subjects, oils, watercolours, pastel, mixed media, and sculptures.
